How am I just now seeing the movie Letters to Juliet??? What a joy it is to find an old, new favorite!
With stunning scenery that touches cobblestoned Verona and the rolling hills of Tuscany, a meaningful and well written plot of love and beginning again, a perfectly written script played out by impeccable actors, characters that you resonate with or that deeply inspire you, and all the perfect dips and peaks that carry the movie to a funny, beautiful end. It was right up my alley.
Letters to Juliet checked alllll of my boxes in my new entertainment era.
Boxes to check: relatable depth in characters, a strong plot outside of the romance, a story that I can immerse myself in, wholesome humor, soft romance that leaves something to be desired (closed door ideally), realistic and meaningful dialogue, reasonable and resolvable conflict, and gorgeous scenery that evokes escape (a huge plus if it is anywhere in Europe).
I was also widely inspired by the scenery, way of life, fashion, and design. Tuscan design style is a central part of my personal style and home, so it was really beautiful to see it portrayed on a screen. It left me wanting to learn more about all things Tuscany and dive deeper into that collected countryside brilliance.
Now, I am on the hunt for more movies and books that share the same feel and core themes/storytelling. If anyone has any recs, let me know!
Excited to stumble across more new favorites.
xx,
AJ
