blue dreams

ree

Blue has been the color of my dreams this season.

  1. Blue + Wood - I am obsessed with this. I don't know whose home this is or who to credit for the original picture (I wish I did because they deserve it!), but this picture has inspired me a lot. So much so that I made it a widget on my phone to look at daily, and it really inspired this post as a whole. The wood and blue linen is such a beautiful contrast, and I love the bold choice of a blue couch like this - done perfectly.

  2. Rustic Modern Pot - this is gorgeous and not too hard on the wallet; only $58 for the larger size

  3. Blue Area Rug - I love this rug collection from Frenshe Interiors by Ashley Tisdale. The colors are so dreamy and elegant. This blue and the brown are my favorite of the collection.

  4. Woven Lamp - An obsession for a while now. I love this lamp. Not only is it such a unique material and design, the color is marvelous. It also comes in a natural colored weave as well, but this blue is special.

  5. Velvet Couch - I love the relaxed look of this couch with the elegant texture of velvet and deep rich blue color.

  6. THE Blue Blanket - where the love affair for blue blossomed for me and my home. I wanted to test the color waters with something small, inexpensive, and non committal. I love that a small home detail can evoke such feelings of joy - love wrapping up in this cozy throw.

  7. Velvet Pillow - this guy is on the wishlist. The rich color in this velvet texture is stunning.

  8. Linen Ottoman - Studio McGee at Target really outdid themselves with this ottoman. This blue color is gorgeous, price is reasonable, and they have so many pattern and color options - looks very luxe for less.

  9. Elegant Vase - The color and shape of this = chef’s kiss. This would be a stunning way to add blue into your home for spring and summer. I would definitely style this with fresh white tulips.

  10. Ruffled Linen Bed Frame - another piece from Studio McGee at Target. This color is a dream, the ruffled edge looks incredibly expensive, and it is an amazing price. I think this would be fun in a guest room.

  11. Pleated Velvet Chair - the design of this chair is amazing: the pleating is perfect, the velvet is luxurious, and the color is daring. I feel like this chair is meant to be styled in a sitting room or office.

  12. Book Box - cutie little storage box. I love the color and linen fabric of this. Again, it can be in the small details!

I have been surprised by the inspiration, joy, and gratitude the color blue has brought me this season. The intentional details of a home have the power to evoke emotions and feelings making your home feel unique to you.

For someone who typically gravitates towards neutral colors and a lot of texture, oftentimes, color takes a back seat. I know to some, my neutral, minimal, clean design style can be dull or boring, but for me, it brings me peace and clarity - clean home, clean mind. However, spring has shown me the value of adding in color, and blue partners really well with my overall home design goal of calming and peaceful.

You don't have to make huge, bold, expensive changes either. Little details like vases, throw blankets, books, fresh flowers, pillows, etc. can all be ways to incorporate new colors for new seasons or just try something new without fully committing with an expensive piece. Although I love the blue couches and accent chairs, I'll be sticking to the small details this season :)

xx, AJ
